Guys please don’t harass tumblr user livinginmynowhereland for the McLennon post. They were simply posting their opinion. If you have something to say…

As you said, there’s no sense in discussing some moral debate between ourselves because anyone can form their own version of what is “right,” but I’m stating that it is “wrong” or “perverse” because Paul and John would have never sanctioned this fandom. If the people the fandom focuses on (especially if they are real) do not think that it’s “right” then shouldn’t that hold any weight? I mean they’re both men who got married and had children. I don’t believe any of their family members would also sanction this fandom, especially Yoko, which leads me to a more convincing conclusion that this is “wrong.” Not simply by my views, but by Paul’s, John’s, George’s, Ringo’s, and all their families’ standpoint on the matter.

the fact that they got married and had children is irrelevant, there are lots of gay people who are married with children. Besides i personally don’t think they were gay as in “they liked men”, but i do think their relationship was based on a strong, mutual mental attraction. We all know that John once described their tours as Fellini’s Satyricon, which underlines the general atmosphere of sexual promiscuity. Do you think that a 25-year-old John Lennon could be so moderate and innocent not to try something different, something that was still largely considered immoral at the time among those who grew in the 40s but super-cool by the new generation? Well, i don’t. I don’t have any proof whatsoever, but i’m sure as hell they had sex in the same room and i’m quite positive they had sex in the same bed at least once.
Now, it would be foolish to presume they had a proper affair. To be honest, i don’t think they had one. But… come on, nobody here was born yesterday. Things like this happen. Anyway, there are only two people who could say the truth; one of them is dead, and the other isn’t stupid.
That Paul, John, George, Ringo and their families chose you to speak on their behalf, I did not know, and may you forgive me for i thought you were just one of the many fans who only knows what The Beatles want them to know, and nothing more.

I don’t claim to be a messenger on their behalf, and obviously this discussion is based on informed speculation. Although, the evidence of straight marriages of the Beatles, and their children, shows a more heterosexual conclusion. If that is invalid, then how could you even speculate that them having sex in the same room or bed suggests an inclination towards mental/sexual promiscuity between each other? Whether it was a “fad” or “cool” doesn’t mean that they had any such feelings. They were probably more comfortable, considering their situation with, you know… being the Beatles and having to be contained. Nobody is denying their mental attraction, I am simply talking about “Mclennon” fans who produce highly-graphic gay art, sexual stories, and out-of-context material in order to fantasize about some non-existent sexual relationship between John and Paul. These people give the rest of Beatles fans a “bad name” according to whom I’ve spoken to, and I am simply voicing my own opinion on this matter. Whether this bothers “Mclennon” fans or not, I don’t care, because I will make my point. Everyone is entitled to disagree with me, but as long as I share a majority opinion, I don’t think I’ll be changing my mind unless serious evidence is placed forth.

well, you did say “I don’t believe any of their family members would also sanction this fandom, especially Yoko, which leads me to a more convincing conclusion that this is “wrong.” Not simply by my views, but by Paul’s, John’s, George’s, Ringo’s, and all their families’ standpoint on the matter”.
Paul, when asked about John’s alleged homosexuality or about an hypothetical affair between the two of them, never seemed to be horrified by the mere thought of it (as many Beatles’s fans are). He simply said “For what i know, John wasn’t gay”, which is the only thing he can say, actually.
I mentioned the promiscuity of their tours only because a lot of McLennon “haters” (i know it’s a stupid term but i don’t know how to put it) seem to forget that their beloved darlings did engage in not so uncorrupted activities. To answer your question, orgies do suggest a sexual promiscuity. I can’t say “yeah, they totally fucked each other that time” because i don’t know if they did, but it is a possibility, or isn’t it? As i already told you, i don’t think they ever reached that point. And, as you call it, “a more heterosexual conclusion” doesn’t necessarily leave out a “less heterosexual” premise.
That said, i don’t want to make you change your mind; if i were you, i would do the same, waiting for some facts instead of relying on speculation. I only wanted to share my opinion and to have a civilized conversation, because often, on both parts, people forget their good manners and act like assholes. I understand how some fanfics or drawings may be seen as disturbing, but, except for suggesting to live and let live and to blacklist as many of the related tags as possible, there’s not much any of us can do. My only wish is to have people stop from insulting other people without knowing them, really.

"Mclennon" is NOT an opinion, it’s a perversion of a completely…

The pairing, “Mclennon,” of both Paul and John is a perverse fiction. It does not exist. If people have some “opinion” on this fictitious history, then sure… but the concept in it’s entirety is NOT an opinion, it’s a fictional distortion of a friendship involving two real people. Whether you approve of this “pairing” or not, is an opinion. Here on Tumblr I have seen disgusting artwork of both John and Paul having sexual intercourse and I’m not supposed to be offended?! They are REAL people, and this sick “mclennon” garbage is nothing but a disgrace of their image. I wonder what Paul would have to say about this little “fandom” that disgraces him and his dead friend.

of course McLennon is a concept and not an opinion, but what i believe beatledirt was saying in the first place is “please don’t harass tumblr user livinginmynowhereland, she was simply stating that she thinks people who ship McLennon are disturbed”, which is an opinion. “People who ship McLennon” is not an opinion, but “People who ship McLennon are disturbed” is.
When you say “McLennon is perverse fiction”, i assume that by “pervert” you mean “Directed away from what is right or good”. Now, if you think morality as something universal, then it would be no use for me to try and make you understand that morality derives, as a matter of fact, from one’s opinions on basically everything there is or can be conceived. But, see, i’m not that kind of person who wants to change people’s minds, as long as they’re doing no harm. This means that you have all the rights to feel offended if something goes against your sets of morals, though, when you or whoever else (i’m saying “you” just because i’m having this conversation with you), call people names because they go against your concept of what is wrong and right, then i am the one who feels offended because your subjectivity is going against mine.
That said, Paul has probably better things to do than worrying about what a bunch of people think about him and John. A lot of things have been and will be said about them. If i were in his shoes, i’d be more upset to know that someone thinks they hated each other, instead of loved each other. But, again, that’s just my opinion.

"Mclennon" is NOT an opinion, it’s a perversion of a completely non-sexual friendship between two REAL people. They aren’t some characters in a novel or some gay love story. People who "ship" this "mclennon" garbage are immature and do not understand who Paul or John really were. You can’t create an "opinion" about something that was never even there to begin with. Go listen to some of Paul’s interviews with regard to his friendship with John, and you’ll see how this "mclennon" crap is some gay-school boy’s fantasy. Grow up people…

"You can’t create an opinion about something that was never even there to begin with?"… are you serious?

People can have an opinion on whatever the fuck they want, it doesn’t matter if it exists or if it doesn’t. I have an opinion on a lot of things that doesn’t exist, from God to book characters to the Ancient Psychic Tandem War Elephant.
